Haemorrhoid ligation


Operation procedure

Using a special instrument, a rubber band is placed around the base of the haemorrhoid to reduce the blood supply to the haemorrhoid. This only applies to the early haemorrhoids that do not bleed and protrude.


Preparation

  • The procedure can be preformed after the patient has defecated.
  • Fasting is not necessary.
  • Prior to the operation, doctor will give a brief consultation and check up to explain the procedure and risks involved. A consent form will then be signed.

During the procedure

  • Patient should be side lying and relaxed.
  • The whole procedure takes about 5 minutes.

After the procedure

  • Patient can be accompanied by family members and stay in the resting room.
  • There will be mild discomfort after the operation, but it will release in 1 to 2 days.
