Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a type of highly advanced medical imaging technology used to show images of various tissues and organs in different planes after computer reconstruction. MRI scan uses powerful magnetic fields and radio waves to produce images. Specialists can then use those images for medical diagnosis. Although MRI is costly, it can provide extremely high-resolution medical images without ionizing radiation as there would be in other types of imaging technologies such as X-Ray.

Instrument

Equipped with Siemens’ MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T scanner. This new generation MRI scanner has a 70-cm Open Bore system with an ultra-short 145cm system length design, enabling more head-out and feet-out exams. A shorter system length design enables more head-out or feet-out exams, which can greatly improve comfort, especially for claustrophobic patients.

The MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T has a maximum of 204 Radiofrequency channels available, with up to 64 receiver channels that can be used simultaneously in one single scan. It has a scan range of up to 205cm, thanks to its core imaging technologies Tim 4G and Dot.  From patient preparation and exam set-up, to image acquisition and processing, MAGNETOM Aera with Tim 4G and Dot facilities exam routine with an increase of up to 50% productivity. Not only does this provide high-resolution MRI images, but also reduces up to 40% of time typically required for the scanning.
